How not to get distracted

Blog

In June 2012, Nik Wallenda successfully completed a tight rope walk over the Niagara falls from the USA side to the Canadian side of the water falls.
During the press conference he was asked if he was disturbed by the tether he used as a safety precaution or by the helicopters hovering above him? His reply was:
“I’ve trained all my life not to be distracted by distractions”

How profound, I guess the art of keeping one’s mind blank and focused to the task on hand is the difference.
The same principle can be used in our everyday life, tough client situations or even while playing that weekend golf. This is easier said than done!
I wonder why we do not have such trainings in schools or corporate?

I would have liked to ask him as to what specific trainings he underwent so that he is not distracted by distractions.
Alas I was not there at the press conference to ask!!
